Functional Abilities (Capacity) Evaluation

A Functional Abilities (Capacity) Evaluation is used to assist in the determination of an individual’s functional abilities for positional tolerances, strength and material handling, upper and lower limb postures and activities, as well as any objectively supported restrictions or limitations, at a specific point in time. This evaluation is used in forensic services in conjunction with medical information as a method of establishing an individual’s abilities at the time of the evaluation. When objectively combined with information related to the extent and/or permanence of physical impairments, the functional abilities (capacity) evaluation can be a powerful tool in the forensic calculation of losses and any services required to minimize the extent and impact of those losses.
